We recognise that the service we provide should be tailored to suit the needs of a diverse range of individuals and we will continue to develop ways of ensuring that our service meets those differing needs.
“Our Confidence and Equality Strategy is designed to ensure that we continue to work to build the trust and confidence of all of our communities. It will help us develop positive methods of communicating and engaging with our communities. Our aim is to ensure that we provide an appropriate policing response and that we consider the needs of different communities in developing our policing plans and services,” said head of the Diversity Unit Chief Inspector Melanie Burn.
We have reviewed our existing Race Equality Scheme and have taken this as the opportunity to incorporate our existing Disability and Gender schemes and extend to cover the additional strands of Age, Religion or Belief and Sexual Orientation.
The Single Equality Scheme sets out our arrangements to meet the duties to promote disability, gender and race equality as a public body and as an employer.
The Single Equality Scheme has been created in three parts:
Part One explains the scheme and the Constabulary's commitment.
Part Two contains details of the legislative requirements.
Part Three contains the supporting action plans. |
