Chief Constable welcomes
Hertfordshire’s first Commissioner
11/20/2012
The Chief
Constable of Hertfordshire has welcomed the election of David Lloyd
as the county’s first Police and Crime Commissioner. In a message
to all police officers and staff, Andy Bliss said that he was
looking forward to working with the Commissioner to keep
Hertfordshire safe.
As Police and Crime Commissioner, David will be working with the
public, the police and leaders across Hertfordshire to cut crime
and keep communities safe. Over 122,000 votes were counted on
Friday in the first election for this new leadership role. David
secured over 60% of the vote.
Chief Constable Bliss said: “The election of David Lloyd as Police
and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire heralds a new era in how
policing is governed, resourced and held to account. I believe that
good policing must be fair and responsive to those whom it serves
and protects; the Commissioner will ensure that the work of the
Constabulary and other agencies is properly focused on what matters
to the public.
“I congratulate David Lloyd on being elected to this very important
role and I look forward to working closely with him as he
commissions the Constabulary and other agencies to reduce crime,
catch criminals and keep people safe.”
David Lloyd will officially take on the role of Police and Crime
Commissioner on Thursday 22nd November.
