Witnesses Sought After Robbery 

Police in Bishop’s Stortford are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery in the town.


At around 11.15pm on Sunday December 18, a 24 year old man from Bishop’s Stortford was walking through the alleyway in Carrigans, which leads to Half Acres, when he was allegedly approached by a man who demanded he give him money. The victim gave the man a quantity of cash, at which point the offender lunged towards the man and stabbed him in the stomach. The offender then ran off towards the town.


The victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where he received treatment for a small stab wound to his stomach.


The offender is described as around 6ft tall and wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up.


DC Neil Lancey, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a nasty incident and we are working hard to trace the person responsible. Although it was late, we are hoping that there may have people around who may have seen the offender or the victim around the time of the incident. If you have any information that could help our inquiry – we need to speak to you.”
