Meet a Neighbourhood Constable - PC Mathew Cann
PC Mathew Cann I joined Hertfordshire Constabulary in January 2006, and in October 2006 I was posted to the Hemel Hempstead Neighbourhood Team. Previous to joining the police service I worked for the European banking group BNP PARIBAS as a Business Analyst. I also spent three years as a Special Constable in Harpenden. I joined the police service to make sure that criminals were brought to justice and so I could use my people skills towards something positive and meaningful. I aim to serve the people of Grovehill and Woodhall as best I can.

Local news and updates for Hemel N Rural
Welcome to the Safer Neighbourhood for this Month. Since our last update the Neighbourhood Team have continued to work on the three priorities for the area. These priorities are set following feedback from local residents and in consultation with local councillors. If you wish to have a say into how you want your area policed please come along and speak to your Neighbourhood Team.

Grovehill and Woodhall Farm

Thank you for taking the time to read this month’s update. Crime for both Grovehill and Woodhall Farm has been low this month.

There have been no reported thefts of catalytic converters from vehicle for some time now. We will be continuing to monitor the situation.

There has been a spate of criminal damage incidents in the areas of Datchet Close, Chalfont Close and Kimpton Close areas of Woodhall Farm. This is suspected to be revellers returning home after a night out. If you see anyone committing acts of criminal damage please call 999 straight away.

The shop watch system is now being used in the shops in Grovehill. This is enabling the police to be able to get to incidents quicker and for the CCTV operators to be alerted to problems as they happen.

Watling Ward

Speed enforcement has been conducted in London Road, Markyate without any tickets being issued. The feed back from the local residents has been good; they have stated that there seems to have been a reduction of the amount of vehicles speeding at the location.

Fly tipping continues to be a problem in the areas of Caddington Common, Chad Lane and also Holtsmere End Lane. We did trace an address from some of the discarded rubbish, but unfortunately the occupier had recently moved out without leaving a forwarding address. We are continuing to try and detect these types of offences, but we still need the help of the public, if you see tipping happening please call 999 if you discover some fly tipping then please report it to Dacorum borough council 01442 867858.

At the beginning of the month there was some criminal damage being committed on the allotments in Markyate. This is a secluded location with some houses backing onto it. If any one is seen acting suspiciously please report this to the police via the non emergency 0845 33 00 222. If damage is in progress please call 999.

If you have any information about crime you can call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111
