Herts in Trust

Herts in Trust is the registered charity of both Hertfordshire Constabulary, and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, and was set up to help secure safer communities for the county. Herts in Trust offers financial support to projects in Hertfordshire working to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in the county, by tackling crime and the fear of crime.

What are our objectives?

  • To increase the quality of life of Hertfordshire residents.
  • Encourage the development of young people.
  • Educate people about the effects of alcohol, drugs and solvent abuse.
  • To minimise risk to those who live, work or travel in Hertfordshire through prevention, protection and emergency response.

How can you get involved?

Herts in Trust can only be truly successful in its charitable aims with the support of the community it serves. There are many ways that you can get involved with or support us whether you are aged 12 or 87 or whether you are an individual, school, company or local group.

Listed below are a number of examples of ways you can support us but there may be many other ways that you can think of getting involved. We welcome your ideas and enthusiasm and are happy to discuss ways we can work together.

- Make a donation
Your donations allow us to support local projects which make a real difference to local people. You can help by providing a one-off or regular donation.

- Become a volunteer
Have you got some spare time that you can dedicate to fundraising or organising events?

- Remember us in your will
Leaving us a gift could make a significant difference to someone’s life.

- Organise a sponsored event
Always fancied doing a tandem sky dive, a fire walk or cycling from London to Edinburgh?  Then why not considering doing the event to raise money for us?

- Become a corporate supporter
Looking to play a more active local role or encourage your staff to get involved with charitable work then why not consider developing a partnership with us?

- Support us with goods and services
With your help and support we can enhance the way we interact with the community.

What happens to the money raised?

The most important part for us is ensuring that the money available goes to those worthwhile projects in the county that really make a difference.

We really value our supporters and can offer you the opportunity to say where you would like your money to go to and how it is spent. You may want the money to be spent.

- on a specific project in your area
- a certain type of project - such as a diversionary scheme for young people
- a wide range of projects supporting the Trust’s general objectives
It is up to you! What you can be assured of is that we will let you know how your money has been spent and keep you updated about the activities and successes of the charity.

What if you need funding?
We provide grants of up to £5,000 for projects or community organisations which meet the Trust’s criteria and charitable objectives. Full Guidelines are available from the Trust Co-ordinator.
