Racist incidents can take many forms
A racist attack may be easy to identify due to verbal or written threats of a racist nature. However, it may be that a personal attack or damage to property may not contain evidence that the incident was racist. This does not matter.
It is our job to help you identify what has happened and make sure that appropriate action is taken.

Why you should report it
All racist incidents are totally unacceptable and we need to know about them.
We take racist incidents seriously and understand that this kind of crime can have a devastating affect on the individual and the wider community. We are committed to giving all victims of crime a professional and sensitive service and are determined to eliminate all incidents of this kind.
Reporting racist crime means you help the police to build up patterns of crime and apprehend offenders. Any information you can give us will help us build up our knowledge. A name, an address or a description of people who commit hate crime will enable us to target criminals and stop the abuse.
Left unreported people who carry out these crimes are likely to commit similar offences again and could be harming others. Your report may prevent it from happening to someone else.

Our service to you: Racist Incident Survey
We know that racially motivated incidents can be distressing for the victim, their families and sometimes the wider community.
We at Hertfordshire Constabulary have developed a survey in order to find out what victims of racially motivated incidents think of the service that we have given. The information provided will help us meet the victims' need in the future, improve our service and take steps to prevent such incidents from occuring again.
Most victims will recieve a questionnaire to complete. The responses will be treated as confidential and will only be used to assist us in improving our service.
