MYLEENE KLASS
The Constabulary would like to put the people of Hertfordshire’s minds at rest in relation to a story appearing across the country’s news media about ‘intruders’ at the home of Myleene Klass.
The acceptable use of force in defence of yourself or your property is explained on this webpage by clicking HERE. It includes Home Office information about the laws on self defence.
The story, based on quotes from Ms Klass’ publicist and interpreted by some national newspapers, does not reflect the events of that night in an accurate way. Nor does it correctly explain the police stance on the right to defend yourself in your own home.
Ms Klass was treated with respect and sympathy by the police officers who came to her home, spending around 40 minutes with her and members of her family. They checked that the young men who had been seen in her garden were no longer anywhere near her home and established that no property had been stolen or damaged and that no crime had been committed.
In addition, there was no sign that the youths had entered, or tried to enter, the house at any point.
Ms Klass asked the officers for advice about home security and they discussed this subject, including advice about the laws on self defence.
Hertfordshire Constabulary would like to remind residents that they should call 999 immediately if they feel they, or their homes, are in danger.
