Link officers for deaf and speech impaired people

We have link officers - PLODs (Police Link Officers for Deaf people) - who have been specially trained to work with deaf and speech impaired people.

How Link Officers help

  • Help deaf and speech impaired people access police services.
  • Provide a non-emergency point of contact where deaf people can report crime and incidents.
  • Give information, advice and support to deaf victims and witnesses of crime and incidents.
  • Provide liaison/consultation with external agencies.
  • Advise police officers and staff on deaf matters.
