AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021

The accounts of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire and the Chief Constable for Hertfordshire are subject to external audit by Steve Bladen, Director, BDO LLP, 55 Baker Street, London, W1U 7EU. Members of the public and local government electors have certain rights in the audit process.

From Thursday 29 July 2021 to Wednesday 8 September 2021 inclusive (except Saturdays and Sundays) between 10.00am and 4.00pm at Police Headquarters, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire AL8 6XF, any person may inspect the accounts of both the Commissioner and the Chief Constable for the year ended 31 March 2021 having first given reasonable notice by email. This includes related documents such as books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts. They may also make copies of the accounts and documents. There is no charge for inspecting the accounts and documents but a charge may be made to cover the cost of the provision of copies of related documents should these be requested.

During the period Thursday 29 July 2021 to Wednesday 8 September 2021 inclusive, a local government elector for the area of the Commissioner and the Chief Constable (Hertfordshire), or his/her representative, may ask the Auditor (see above) questions about the accounts and may also object to the accounts of either the Commissioner or the Chief Constable asking that the Auditor issue a report in the public interest (section 27 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014) and/or apply to the court for a declaration that an item in the accounts is contrary to law (section 28 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014). Written notice of a proposed objection and the grounds on which it is made must be sent to the Auditor at the address given above and copied to Chris Brace, Chief Executive, at the following address: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire, Harpenden Police Station, 13 Vaughan Road, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, AL5 4GZ.
