Requesting your stop and search record

Stop and search logo

Stop searches in Hertfordshire are recorded either electronically or on a paper form.  If your search is recorded electronically you can chose to be emailed a copy or sent a text receipt.

If you do not wish to provide your email address or mobile telephone number, we will give you a paper receipt with a unique reference number.  To obtain a copy of your stop and search record, you can take the unique reference number on your text or paper receipt to a Hertfordshire Constabulary police station.

You will also need to bring some ID with you. This can be:

  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • Student ID card
  • Bank card
  • Utility bill
  • (Photo ID is preferable)

Records are held for up to three months after the stop and search and are provided free of charge.

Where your search has been recorded on a paper form you will be given a paper copy at the time.
