We are working hard to drive down knife crime in Hertfordshire with operations being carried out every week to detect  and arrest those carrying knives.

Here's a round up of our recent arrests and operations to tackle knife crime:


Multi-agency approach to clamp down on knife and drug crime in Three Rivers- May 25

Strong partnership work continues to be the key to tackling knife and drug-related crime in Three Rivers.

Anti-knife crime 'Peace Week' piloted in Watford  - May 17

Young people have been learning about the impact and risks of knife crime as part of a ‘Peace Week’ education scheme piloted in Watford for the very first time.

The young winner of an anti-knife crime poster competition was announced earlier this morning (Thursday, May 9).

Man charged in connection with Hitchin murder - April 24

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 25 year old man from Hitchin.

Cheshunt warrant sees man arrested - April, 8

Officers from the Operation Scorpion team executed a drugs warrant in Cheshunt. A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with the intent to supply. A number of items suspected to be Class A drugs were seized along with a combat knife.

Man sentenced for string of offences – Watford and Three Rivers - April, 5

Paul Evans has been sentenced to 11 years and one month in prison after pleading guilty to 12 offences including knifepoint robberies, thefts, burglary and handling stolen goods.

Teenager and man sentenced after stabbing in Watford - April, 2

A teenage boy has been sentenced to seven years in prison after stabbing a man in Watford. Hugo Da Silva, aged 17, of Marlborough Road, Watford, appeared before Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, March 29, after being found guilty of Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).

Man jailed for stabbing Good Samaritan - April, 1

On Friday, March 29 a man was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison at Harrow Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to stabbing a man in an unprovoked attack in Cheshunt last year (2018).

Young people told gangs and knives ruin lives - April, 1 

A Lives not Knives event held at Hertfordshire University on Tuesday March 26, was the first of many such events planned by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Children and Young Persons Team, to make young people in Hertfordshire aware of the terrible consequences of getting involved with gangs and violent crime.

Section 60 stop and search powers authorised – Hemel Hempstead - March, 29

Officers in Hemel Hempstead have been granted authorisation to stop and search members of the public suspected to be carrying knives from 3.15pm until 11.59pm today (Friday, March 29), under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.

Man charged with serious assault, possession of knife and driving dangerously - March, 25

Edward Stokes has been charged with assault (GBH Section 18), possession of a knife and driving dangerously after he was arrested on Thursday, March 21 in Northern Ireland and brought back to Hertfordshire to face the charges.
