Man charged in connection with Hitchin murder

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 25 year old man from Hitchin.

Eswaran Sinnathurai, aged 24, of Wilshere Crescent, Hitchin, has been charged this afternoon (Wednesday, April 24) and is due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court tomorrow (Thursday).

Police were contacted just before 4.30am on Tuesday (April 23) to a report that a man had been seriously injured inside an address in Capswell Court, Hitchin.

Officers and the ambulance service attended the flat where the victim – Katheeskaran Thavarasa, who is better known as Karan, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He had suffered knife wounds.

Detective Inspector Iain MacPherson, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “This was an isolated incident inside an address and involving individuals who we believe are known to each other.

“At this stage of the investigation we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the murder.

“The victim’s family are currently being supported by specialist officers.”
