Man sentenced to sixteen weeks in prison for shoplifting

Thirty-six-old Simon Speer was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment at St Albans Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday March 13).

Speer, of Langley Grove in Sandridge, was sentenced for shoplifting electrical items, worth £80 from Clas Ohlson on Tuesday (March 11) whilst the subject of a 14 week suspended sentence for theft of 10 steaks from Sainsbury’s in Marshalswick on March 8 and assaulting police officers (by spitting).

Detective Constable Tony Kong said: “St Albans Magistrates offered Simon Speer the opportunity for redemption but he decided to abuse the court’s trust and continue to commit crime in St Albans.”
