We are continuing our efforts to trace missing Matthew Hall from Bishop’s Stortford.

Police were joined by Midshires Search and Rescue personnel as they searched the Birchanger services area and open land around Sworders Field on Friday and Saturday (17 and 18 July) for clues to Matthew’s whereabouts. Police dogs and quad bikes were also used to assist the search.

Matthew, aged 35, was last seen in Bishop’s Stortford town centre at 12.45pm on Friday 9 July and was possibly seen at the services a short while later.

He is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, with short brown hair, he wears glasses which are broken and was last seen wearing a red hoody and dark trousers.

Matthew also has a black devil Manchester United tattoo on the inside of his right wrist.

He has links to Essex, Boston in Lincolnshire and to Slough in Berkshire.

Detective Inspector Chris Ross, of the East Herts Local Crime Unit, said: “An extensive search of the area and woodland around Birchanger Services and open land around Sworders Field, has been carried out as we continue our efforts to trace Matthew. Sadly, despite the meticulous work of the search teams over the weekend, we’re no closer to finding Matthew at this time and concerns continue to grow for his welfare.

“If you have seen him or have any information about where he may have travelled to, please get in touch. Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could hold the key to his whereabouts.

“We are again asking the public to assist us by checking any outbuildings or garages they have, looking at their CCTV for sightings or by reporting any signs of people who may be sleeping rough.”

If you have seen Matthew since he went missing or have information on his whereabouts, please call the non-emergency number 101 quoting ISR 323 of 10 July.

For immediate sightings, call 999 straight away.
