Man charged with arson after fire in Cheshunt

  • Following a fire in Cheshunt a man has been charged.

  • The incident took place on Wednesday 22 July on Crossbrook Street.

  • Reece Doherty, aged 22, from Enfield has appeared in court.

A man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and other offences following a fire in Cheshunt on Wednesday (22 July) morning.

Police were called to a series of fires at a block of flats in Crossbrook Street. Fires were discovered inside the flat block, in a bin store and a nearby vehicle was alight.

Three people were treated for minor injuries.

Reece Doherty, aged 22 of Ordnance Road, Enfield, was arrested and charged with:

  • Arson with intent to endanger life
  • Possession of a class B drug
  • Using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress

He appeared at Hatfield Magistrates Court on Friday (24 July) where he pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Monday 24 August.
