Welwyn Hatfield Police to host community engagement day

23 Jul 2021
  • Officers are hosting a community engagement day on Wednesday 11 August 10am-3pm in White Lion Square

  • They will be joined by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and other local services

  • Residents can bring their bikes along to get them security-marked

Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team are hosting an exciting community engagement day open to all local residents.

Taking place in Hatfield’s White Lion Square on Wednesday 11 August, the event will run between 10am and 3pm.

The team of friendly PCs and PCSOs will be joined by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Resolve, The Prince’s Trust and officers from the constabulary’s Children and Young Persons Team.

As well as issuing crime prevention advice, officers will be doing bike-marking at the event. Bike marking can help deter thieves as it makes it harder for the bikes to be sold on.

PCSO Deborah Akers, who has organised the event, said: “This should be a fun event, especially for families looking for something to do in the summer holidays. If you have a bicycle, I would definitely encourage you to pop along. Bike-marking only takes a few seconds and it will give you peace of mind.

“It’s our job to help keep you safe so if there’s something you’d like to raise with us, please pop by and let us know how we can help. If you can’t make the event, you can always share your feedback using echo, our community voice platform.”

Cllr Bernard Sarson, Executive Member for Leisure and Community Safety, said: “We’ve missed getting out and about hearing from residents over the past 18 months and look forward to having the opportunity to do that again. Together with local partners, we want to help our communities feel safe and supported by tackling the issues that matter. If you have concerns and need advice, please contact us or come along to White Lion Square on 11 August.”
