Four people have been arrested in connection with a burglary in Bishop’s Stortford, during which a vehicle was stolen.
In the early hours of Thursday 5 May, a property in Gerard Avenue was broken into. Keys, a wallet and cash were stolen, along with a Renault Megane which was parked outside the address.
Enquiries were carried out in the area which led to officers identifying a second vehicle of interest, a Hyundai, which had previously been stolen from the Metropolitan Police area.
Later that afternoon, the Megane was found parked in a street in Rainham and was recovered by police.
Two men from London, aged 23 and 22, were arrested nearby and taken into police custody.
Later that evening, the Hyundai, was spotted driving past as officers were conducting searches of an address in London as part of their investigation.
Following a pursuit, the vehicle was abandoned in Barking and two further people were arrested, a 19 year old man from Bedfordshire and a 17 year old female from London.
All four have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Karen Warner, from the constabulary’s Specialist Investigation Team, said: “Thanks to some fast time enquiries and great partnership working with our colleagues in the Met, we were able to make four arrests within 24 hours of the burglary taking place. Our investigation continues at this time.”
