Another Mini Police scheme has completed in Hertsmere with twenty-four year five children from Meryfield Primary School Borehamwood successfully completing the programme.
Mini Police is a fun and interactive programme designed for children aged between nine and 11 and is delivered by local PCSOs. It aims to build trust with communities, promote responsible citizenship and help young people establish an interest and understanding in policing and community safety.
Anti-social behaviour, road safety, bullying and cyber safety formed part of the course as well as fire safety, which was delivered by colleagues from Herts Fire and Rescue Service.
A special assembly was recently held to mark completion of the programme with parents invited to see their children receive certificates from Hertsmere’s Mayor Cllr John Graham, as well as local Safer Neighbourhood Team Sergeant, Matt Cann.
PCSO Alex Timofte said: “The children should be so proud of themselves for completing the course. We aim to make it as fun and interactive as possible, so that they learn essential skills but also feel confident interacting with the police.”
