Police join with local partners for community event

Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) recently joined together with local partners for a community engagement event.
On Saturday 9 July, SNT officers teamed up with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to host a stall in Hatfield’s White Lion Square. Residents were able to share any concerns and seek advice.
Free security tools were given out along with crime prevention advice. There was also free bike-marking for those who bought along their bicycles. Bikes that are security marked are less likely to be stolen. If the bike is stolen and found, there is a better chance of it being returned to the rightful owner.
PCSO Mark Randall, from the Welwyn Hatfield SNT, said: “This was a really well-attended event and we spoke to a lot of residents. I would like to thank the council and fire and service for coming along to join us.
“We hope to put on more of these events in Hatfield town centre so do keep an eye out for further dates.”
Cllr Bernard Sarson, Executive Member for Community Safety and Parking, said: “These community events are a great opportunity to meet residents and learn more about the issues affecting them so I’m really pleased the turnout was good. Our partners in the Safer Neighbourhood Team gave useful advice around how residents can keep themselves and their belongings safe. I hope this proved reassuring for the people we met.”
