Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Hatfield.
At around 6.05am on Wednesday 18 May, a man aged in his late 40s was cycling along Great North Road, near the bus depot, when he was approached by a moped being ridden by two white males.
As the moped passed, one of the males struck the man to the back of his head with his hand.
As the victim attempted to contact the police, he was pushed from his bicycle before being punched and kicked. The males then made off on the moped.
They are described as being aged between 18 and 22 years old.
PC Matthew Mason, who is investigating, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack on a man who was simply on his way to work. Thankfully, he wasn’t more seriously injured but he has been left shaken.
“It is believed that the moped may have been travelling on false plates and we have therefore been unable to trace it at this time. As a result, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the moped in the area, to please get in touch; particularly if you have captured it on a dash cam. Any information at all could prove key to identifying these males.”
Anyone with information is asked to please contact PC Matthew Mason via email.
