Motorcyclists in Dacorum are being urged to review their security following an increase in thefts over the weekend.
Between Friday 11 November and Monday 14 November, four motorcycles were stolen in the Hemel Hempstead area, with a further two attempted thefts also reported.
Three of the vehicles have since been recovered.
PC Jake Smith, from the Intervention Team, said: “We’re increasing patrols and responding quickly to any reports of suspicious activity and would encourage people to call 999 straight away if they think a vehicle crime might be in progress.
“Alongside this, we’re urging people to please review the security of their motorbikes and mopeds, to ensure they don’t become a target for thieves.
“Use a disc lock to help secure the front brake disc, or a grip lock to secure the brake and throttle controls. You could also use a ‘D lock’ on the front wheel to stop it being wheeled away. Consider fitting an alarm system and use a cover, as this will provide an extra obstacle for thieves.”
