Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) hosted an event in Ware on Sunday (23 April), to educate young people around road safety.
More than 60 children, aged between two and 12, attended the Road Awareness for Tots to Teens (RAFT) sessions held at Ware Priory.
Throughout the day, local officers worked with RAFT to deliver fun and interactive presentations around a number of themes, specific to each age group.
These included topics such as the importance of being seen, hazards, car park safety, adapting to weather conditions, speeding, journey mapping and distractions and consequences.
SNT Sergeant David Miller was also in attendance, as well as colleagues from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
PC Charlie Herod, who organised the event, said: “The sessions proved hugely popular and we’re really pleased that we were able to run this event.
“Road safety is so important and, in keeping with our prevention first ethos, it’s never too early to teach young people how they can play their part. These events are also a great way for children to build positive relationships with the police.
“I’d like to thank RAFT and everyone else who supported the event to make it so successful. We’re hoping to run another one soon.”
Further information can be found on the RAFT website.
