Police have secured a partial closure order on an address in Borehamwood following multiple calls about anti-social behaviour at the property.
Following joint working with Hertsmere Borough Council and Clarion Housing, the order was granted by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (9 August) and prohibits anyone except the sole occupant, and one other named person, from entering the address in Briar Court for the next three months.
Anyone who is not authorised to be there will be arrested and could face a fine of up to £5,000, a prison sentence, or both.
As an additional measure, a 58-year-old man has been issued with a Community Protection Warning, which prohibits him from entering the Briar Court area, or contacting anyone living there.
Sergeant Alex Smedley, from the Hertsmere Community Safety Unit, said: “We had received numerous calls from residents regarding the behaviour of visitors to the address. This included shouting, swearing, threats being made and assaults being committed.
“The effect on those living locally was hugely detrimental, which is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“I hope this sends a message to anyone involved in this type of behaviour that we will not hesitate to seek these orders, working closely with our local partners.
“If you have information about ASB or criminality in your area, please report it so that we can build up the evidence we need to take action. Your calls make a real difference.”
