A man has been arrested and two dogs seized following an incident in Cheshunt at the weekend.
At just before 5.50pm on Saturday (2 December), it was reported that a woman was walking her dog on Cheshunt High Street when it was attacked by another dog, which was off the lead, and sadly died from its injuries.
The owner and the dog left the scene prior to police arrival.
Following investigations into the incident, a warrant was executed at an address in Cheshunt yesterday (Wednesday 6 December) and a 27 year old man was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place. Two dogs were seized as part of the investigation.
Sergeant Dan McNeill, of the Broxbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The attack at the weekend has been devastating to hear, and my thoughts go to the owner following this traumatic incident.
“I’d also like to thank members of the public who have come forward with information following this incident, and to reassure the community that reports of this nature are taken seriously to ensure the public’s safety.”
