A man has been given a jail sentence after he embarked on a robbing spree in Hatfield earlier this year.
Randey Runzilike, age 19, of Macarthur Close, Erith, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Friday (15 December).
He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for the following offences:
four counts of robbery
one attempted robbery
four counts of possession of a bladed article (knife)
assault (pushed and threatened a member of the public)
The robberies took place in Bishops Rise, Cavendish Way and Alban Way at the end of March and early April this year. The further attempted robbery took place in College Lane.
Extra police patrols were put in place and arrests were quickly made.
Detective Inspector Bianca Broadbent, from the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, said: “Runzilike targeted young people innocently going about their day and he put them through frightening ordeals. I am glad that he is now off the streets and facing punishment for his crimes.
“We know that these incidents caused alarm to the public at the time so I hope this news provides reassures to local residents.
Two other people were arrested in connection with the robbery spree.
Joshua Cinense, aged 19, of Ladbroke Grove in London, is charged with three counts of handling stolen goods. He will appear for trial on 1 July 2024.
A 16 year old boy from Hatfield was arrested on suspicion of three counts of robbery. He was released with no further action.
