Retailers from Bishop’s Stortford attended an information evening hosted by the police Safer Neighbourhood Team to discuss ways in which they can work together to tackle business crime.
Representatives from around 30 businesses attended the event on Monday 27 November, which was held at the police station in Basbow Lane.
Several topics were covered during the evening, including crime prevention, staff safety and Town Link radios - a system which enables businesses to quickly share information and intelligence with each other, as well as with the police.
Inputs were given by local PCSOs, who regularly patrol the town, Safer Neighbourhood Inspector Mark Collins, Gina Thomas from Bishop’s Stortford BID (Business Improvement District) and security staff from Jackson Square.
PCSO Clare Andrews, who organised the event, said: “We understand the impact that crime has on our local retailers, and we want to do all we can to support them.
“This event was an opportunity for police and businesses to come together to talk openly and honestly about the issues they face.
“It was a productive evening, and we look forward to working with our local retailers more closely moving forward. We will also be holding meetings with other local businesses to ensure they are supported.”
During the meeting, a certificate was presented to Jackson Square security staff in recognition of their continued hard work, dedication and professionalism when assisting with police incidents.
