Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have been successfully working to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB) in a hotspot area of Borehamwood.
Residents reported that ASB often increased at Meadow Park as the weather got warmer.
In response, officers made the issue a neighbourhood policing priority and have worked alongside Hertsmere Borough Council colleagues over the past three months to address it.
High visibility patrols were increased in the area and a series of community engagement events were held, which allowed officers to speak with residents about the work they were doing to keep the park safe.
A temporary mobile camera was also installed.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Matt Cann said: “As a result of this work, the number of calls regarding ASB in the area has dramatically reduced, with just four reports since 1 April, 2023.
“I hope this reassures residents that we are listening to their concerns and working with our partners to resolve any issues.
“Your feedback really does make a difference, as it enables us to pinpoint where our resources need to be focused. I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to contact us.”
Councillor Christian Gray, Hertsmere Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, Economic Development and Transformation, said: “We are proud to be working closely with the Safer Neighbourhood Team to effectively reduce ASB in Hertsmere.
“The community engagement work will continue with events over the summer so stay up to date with our social media channels to hear the latest.”
SNTs work alongside local partners, to focus on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, speeding, criminal damage and drug related crime.
Feedback from members of the public plays a huge part in the decision making and information provided via the Constabulary’s community voice platform ‘echo’ is used to help shape the priorities.
