Detectives are trying to trace several members of the public who intervened during an assault in Hertford.
The incident occurred outside Sainsbury’s in Hartham Lane, shortly before 4.30pm on Monday 3 July.
It was reported that a member of security staff was assaulted as he tried to detain a woman who had allegedly stolen items from the store.
Detective Constable Caroline Mellowship, who is investigating, said: “Enquiries have ascertained that a number of people stopped to help during the incident, including one man in particular who alerted staff members at the customer service desk.
“I’m appealing for these people to please come forward, as their accounts could prove key to progressing the investigation further.”
Anyone with information is asked to please contact DC Mellowship at [email protected].
