Police have secured several charges in connection with a recent series of vehicle crime in Watford.
Abid Hussain, aged 37, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody after being charged with:
The charges relate to the theft of an Audi TT from an address in Peace Drive, Watford, overnight between Sunday 16 July and Monday 17 July.
Hussain will remain in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for Wednesday 16 August at St Albans Crown Court.
On Wednesday 19 July, the Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team ran an evening operation in west Watford where they overtly tried the handles of 333 vehicles to see if they were unlocked.
Of those checked, 11 vehicles were found to be insecure. The team then either spoke to the registered owners to offer crime prevention advice or delivered crime prevention leaflets through their door.
The team will continue to plan and run more operations like this very soon. Advice on how to protect your vehicle can be found on the Herts Police website (opens in a new window).
