Looking after the interests of victims and witnesses of crime and bringing offenders to justice is rewarding work. We’re recruiting now for case administrators.
Geoff has been employed with the Administration of Justice (AOJ) at Hertfordshire Constabulary for nearly six years.
The team is based at Hatfield, but deals with cases from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
“I previously worked for the Metropolitan Police at Heathrow police station managing the Criminal Justice Unit, deciding if offences were going to be charged and accepted at court,” Geoff recalls: “Following on from that role, I worked as a front of house manager at a regional theatre, looking after a wide range of activities, staff and volunteers.
“I believe my previous work experience links well with my current case administrator role as I manage my own workload and cases.
Being part of an organisation bringing justice to the forefront and helping protect the public and police officers from criminal activity appealed to Geoff. “I help to ensure that paperwork for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has been prepared accurately, following the correct procedures, and checking for information that shouldn’t be shared or included is removed.
“I also ensure that all case files are built correctly before being sent to the CPS, making sure that the right documents are complete, or removed, if not required. If there is anything missing, I liaise with officers to ensure we follow the correct processes and we all work to the same end goal.
“I would recommend this role because you make a difference by helping to make sure that individuals who commit crimes are brought to justice and are dealt with accordingly. In addition, you have a sense of satisfaction that you are helping victims and witnesses be heard, getting the closure they deserve.
“There is a very strong team spirit within the AOJ team, we all help each other and at the end of the day, you feel you have made a strong contribution to bringing justice to court.”
