Hertfordshire Constabulary is offering residents free cybercrime advice sessions at St Albans Library on Wednesday 29 March.
Organised and delivered by specialist Cyber Protect officers from our Serious Fraud and Cyber Unit, the session will run between 10.45am and 4.45pm providing practical tips for avoiding the most common types of cybercrimes.
At this free of charge, drop in event, there will also be talks given by Trading Standards, Crime Reduction, Hertfordshire Beacon Victim Care and Cyber Protect officers. Neighbourhood Watch Liaison will also be in attendance.
Similar events will be continuing around the county over the coming months, details of which can be found on the Hertfordshire County Council website (opens in new window).
Detective Inspector Pete Hankins, from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Serious Fraud and Cyber Unit said: “There is a growing threat from cybercrime, which has been increasing across the country over recent years. Criminals often prey on the elderly and vulnerable, many of whom may not have the means to access advice online, therefore we have organised these sessions to support residents who would rather talk to crime prevention experts in person.
“These sessions are completely free and you can drop in anytime between the times advertised. Our cybercrime experts will be able to give you practical advice on crime prevention, to help you avoid common scams and recognise new ones.”
Visit Action Fraud (opens in new window) or our crime prevention pages for advice on avoiding scams.
If you believe that you are a victim of fraud or cybercrime please contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 to report. If a crime is in progress or someone’s life is in danger, call 999 immediately.
