Around 20 people came along to meet officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Safer Neighbourhood Team in Birchwood, Hatfield, yesterday (Tuesday 7 March).
PCs Darren Turner, Andrew Dockerill, Peter Hulley and Kelly-Jay Pettersson, attended St Michael’s Church which hosts a warm space every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The aim is to provide locals with a warm and safe environment where they can gather to socialise and enjoy free tea and coffee.
The four officers went along to give out crime prevention advice and offer free bike marking.
PC Darren Turner said: “We were very happy with the turnout and enjoyed speaking to all those who came along for either some advice or just to say hello.
“We handed out leaflets and gave advice around crime prevention including how to look after your property and keep it safe.
“We will be coming back to the church on Tuesday 18 April to speak to residents again so please come along if you would like our help. We look forward to seeing you.”
