Safer neighbourhood officers were able to recover jewellery shortly after a burglary on Saturday (18 November) thanks to a member of the public who contacted us after seeing a man acting suspiciously by the River Ver in St Albans.
The member of the public spotted a man discarding the box full of jewellery and watches into the river in Verulamium Park on Sunday morning.
The box was found by local neighbourhood officers and lines of enquiry are now being followed up by detectives from the Local Crime Unit.
Thanks to this swift action, the victim will soon be reunited with her sentimental property.
A burglary happened between 3.30pm and 11.45pm in Guildford Road on Saturday 18 November.
