An e-scooter rider has been charged with multiple offences after he was stopped and searched in Hatfield town centre.
Roland Whittaker, aged 22, of St Lukes Court in Hatfield, was stopped and searched by officers from Operation Scorpion who were patrolling the town on Thursday 26 October.
He was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences and subsequently charged with:
Officers seized the e-scooter alongside drugs, mobile phones and a quantity of cash.
Whittaker was remanded into custody.
Detective Inspector Bianca Broadbent from the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, said: “We know that e-scooters are a real concern to the public so I hope this news is reassuring.
“This stop search has also meant that more drugs have been taken off the streets of Welwyn Hatfield. Operation Scorpion regularly carry out plain clothes patrols so this should be a warning to others. It’s not a case of if we catch you but when.”
