Positive results for Hertfordshire in regional operation

A number of officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary made 20 arrests as they took part in an operation to target criminals using major roads and the rail network to commit serious and acquisitive crime.

During the three-day operation, in addition to the 20 arrests, officers also conducted 95 stop and searches, seized 15 vehicles, eight weapons and also a mixture of Class A, B and C drugs, of which there was 25 seizures.

The operation covered several forces across the south of England and included officers from Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, the Met, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, and the British Transport Police.

This included the deployment of specialist units such as intelligence, the Road Policing Unit, police dogs and the National Police Air Service, who worked together with officers on the ground to pursue criminals travelling between counties to commit serious crime.

PC Brad Glover, who helped coordinate the operation for Hertfordshire, said: “Over the three days working in partnership with other forces, we have managed to intercept criminals who operate on the major roads of Hertfordshire.

“The message is clear, those who commit offences inside Hertfordshire are not welcome here and our aim is to make the county safer for everyone else, by taking these people off the streets.”
