Teenager pleads guilty to Three Rivers robberies

A 16 year old boy has admitted to robbing two 13 year old boys in Three Rivers earlier this month.

The boy from Chorleywood, who cannot be named publicly as he is under the age of 18, appeared at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (12 October).

He pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and one count of possession of a class B drug (cannabis) in relation to an incident on Sunday 1 October.

At 5.40pm, the victims were together on Chorleywood Common when the defendant threatened them with violence and forced them to hand over their Apple Airpods.

Officers immediately attended and after some initial enquiries were carried out, the defendant was arrested within two hours of first receiving the call.

The stolen earphones were also recovered by police from the defendant’s home address in Chorleywood, along with a small quantity of cannabis.

Following his guilty plea, the 16 year old was released by the court on strict conditional bail and is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday 9 November.

Detective Inspector Dan Bhamra, who leads the Three Rivers Local Crime Unit, said: “We are pleased the defendant has admitted his crimes and spared the victims from having to endure a trial.

“The community found the news of the robberies understandably concerning at the time, but thanks to the initial quick response of our Intervention officers and the diligence of detectives in our Local Crime Unit, we promptly secured several charges. We now await sentencing next month.”
