The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing have seized a dog in Hatfield after reports of concerns from the public.
On Tuesday 20 August, officers from the local policing team carried out a warrant at an address in Lemsford Road in Hatfield, supported by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Dog Unit.
This follows a number of calls to police from concerned residents which resulted in an investigation being opened by neighbourhood officers.
The dog, which is suspected to be an XL Bully, is now in the care of the BCH Dog Unit, will be examined to determine the exact breed.
PC Mitchell Cartwright of the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “I hope this reassures the public that we are always listening to your concerns. The reports that residents made allowed us to build up a picture of intelligence so that we could secure the warrant.
“The dog is now being cared for by our BCH Dog Unit.”
Police are also appealing for information following an incident where a dog reportedly bit a woman inside the premises of Clayton House, Lemsford road. The female victim sustained puncture wounds to the knee and required hospital treatment.
A man in his 50s was arrested in connection with the incident and has subsequently been released on bail while enquiries continue.
If you have information relating to this incident, then please report it using crime reference 41/54289/24.
