A woman has been charged with the murder of a Stevenage man following an intensive investigation.
Police were called just after 11.50pm on Wednesday 19 June to reports of a serious assault in Walden End.
The East of England Ambulance Service attended, and the victim, Peter Lynch, was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. He sadly died a short time later.
A woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested on suspicion of murder and was released on police bail whilst officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit carried out their investigation.
Yesterday (Monday 5 August), Erin McNeilly, aged 34, of Walden End, was charged with murder in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector Lee Martin, who is investigating, said: “Our team have been working hard to establish the full circumstances of what happened that evening and the events that lead to Peter’s death.
“As a result of our enquiries, we have now charged McNeilly who has been remanded into custody. The first hearing is scheduled for Tuesday 3 September at Cambridge Crown Court.
