Police have secured a partial closure order for an address in Borehamwood following numerous complaints around anti-social behaviour and drugs.
The Hertsmere Community Safety Unit (CSU) worked alongside Clarion Housing and Hertsmere Borough Council to take action following complaints about activities associated with visitors to the address, often at unsociable hours.
The behaviour was having a detrimental effect on the local community.
As a result, a partial closure order was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (17 December), under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.
It prevents anyone from entering the property for three months, except for two named occupants and representatives from the housing association and emergency services.
Anyone who breaches the terms of the order could face arrest and a fine, imprisonment or both.
Neighbourhood Inspector Rachael Robertson said: “I hope it reassures residents that we do take action in these circumstances and serves as a warning to anyone involved in crime and anti-social behaviour, that we will not hesitate to seek these orders.
“If you have information about crime and anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood, please don’t hesitate to report it to us. Every call is taken seriously and helps us to build up the evidence we need to take action.”
