Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Spellbrook and are particularly keen to trace a runner who came to assist the victim.
The incident occurred at around 5.40pm on Wednesday 11 December.
It was reported that two teenagers were riding an electric bike along London Road when a vehicle stopped in front of them at the junction with Spellbrook Lane East.
One of the occupants is alleged to have exited the vehicle in possession of a weapon and threatened the victims to hand over the bike.
Both the car and the bike – a black Talaria Sting with a green sprocket, pedals and grips - were then driven away from the area, along the A1184 towards Bishop’s Stortford.
No one was injured during the incident.
Detective Constable Clare Halfpenny, from the East Herts Local Crime Unit said: “Five people were quickly arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed while enquiries continue.
“As part of our investigations, we’re keen to speak with anyone who saw what happened, including a male runner who came to check if the victim was okay.
“We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a red vehicle parked at the junction with Spellbrook Lane East around the time stated, particularly anyone who may have captured dash cam footage. If you can help, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Halfpenny by email.
