The Welwyn Hatfield West Neighbourhood Team hosted a busy community engagement event at The Galleria on Saturday (24 February).
The event took place at the police engagement hub, which is situated on the ground floor next to TK Maxx and The Body Shop.
PCSOs Bill McCaskie, Anne Devine and Shannon Payne were all on hand to chat to residents, whilst also offering advice and answering any questions.
Residents were given free purse bells, purse chains and card defenders – all useful security devices to help protect them from crime. Meanwhile there were also goodies for the children and they were gifted with free pencils, badges and stickers!
PCSO Devine said: “The event was really well attended and we spoke to lots of residents, including many from across the wider county. It was great meeting everybody and we were pleased to be able to give out the free security devices.
“A large majority of our visitors were children and we spoke to them about calling 999 in an emergency. They were also intrigued by our uniform and we talked them through all the different things we wear and why. Some of them were a bit shy to begin with but they soon warmed up and many even tried on the uniform and hats!
“We also spoke to a local Brownie Leader who wants to arrange a visit from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and a teacher looking to book a visit for his school class. I’ve already spoken to the local PCSO for this area and she will be arranging for this to take place soon.
“Our engagement hub really is proving to be a great place for residents to pop in and see us. We look forward to opening up our doors again soon!”
