Detectives in Welwyn Hatfield are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing which took place yesterday evening (Monday 26 February).
About 7.15pm a man sustained stab wounds to his arm and chest following an attack in Hall Grove, Welwyn Garden City. Although the victim suffered serious injuries, these are thankfully deemed not life threatening.
A quick police response to the scene saw officers completing thorough searches of the area and gathering evidence which continued throughout the night and today (Tuesday 27 February). Local detectives are continuing to work hard to establish the circumstances.
Detective Inspector Bianca Broadbent of the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are appealing to anyone who might have seen this incident take place and equally anyone who saw anything suspicious in the time leading up to, or after, the attack.
“It has also been reported that someone slashed tyres of vehicles in the Little Gannett and Great Gannett area, and we think this may be linked. If you witnessed anyone doing this, please also get in touch. If you were in the area at the time and potentially have dash cam footage or have doorbell cameras or CCTV at home the police would welcome the opportunity to have access to the footage.
“I would like to thank everyone who has assisted police so far with this enquiry and would like to reassure communities that detectives and Neighbourhood Officers are working around the clock to provide reassurance and to piece together information being passed to us, but we would encourage anyone with further information to report this, as it may be vital to our investigation.”
