Witness appeal following GBH in Watford

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Watford.

The incident occurred between 2.50am and 3.03am on Saturday 3 February in Sainsbury’s car park on Albert Road South.

The male victim was walking home when a man approached and struck him on the back of the head with an unknown object, causing him to fall to the floor. The suspect then continued to hit the victim with the unknown object.

The victim sustained a cut on the back of his head and injuries to his ribs. It is also believed he lost consciousness for approximately one minute after the attack.

Detective Constable Ben Chandler, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “We understand that news of this incident may be unsettling for the community, but we would like to reassure them that we are supporting the victim while thoroughly exploring several avenues of enquiry.

“As part of our investigation, I am now appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
