The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Team have been busy visiting lots of schools across the borough for their summer fetes.
On Saturday 13 July, PCSO Anne Devine from the Welwyn Hatfield NPT attended Peartree Primary School's Summer Fete in the morning followed by Commonswood Primary School's Summer Fair in the afternoon.
Both events were a great success with PCSO Devine speaking to lots of children and their parents. She educated them around what they should do in an emergency by calling 999. The children were also reminded about the importance of knowing their address so police can get to them quicker.
Other summer fetes attended by the team have included The Ryde, Panshanger and Creswick.
PCSO Devine said: “The children had a great time learning about what we do as the police and how we help people. They enjoyed trying on all the police hats and using imaginative play - being police officers and 'catching the baddies' as they put it!
“Some were a bit apprehensive at first but after a little chat and an explore of the vehicle they embraced the moment and went on to ask lots of questions!
“It’s always such a pleasure to visit community events that engage with the children and provide them with what could be their first experience with the police."
