Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in Bishop’s Stortford involving an e-scooter.
At around 2.30pm on Friday 19 July, police received a call reporting that a woman aged in her 60s had been in collision with a boy on an e-scooter while using a pedestrian crossing in Northgate End.
She fell to the ground, sustaining injuries.
The boy, described as being aged approximately 12 to 13 years old, apologised before riding off.
The woman went to seek help from staff at Waitrose and required treatment from the ambulance service for her injuries.
PC Chloe Capp, from the Intervention response team, said: “Our enquiries into the incident are continuing at this time. As part of this, we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward.
“It is believed that a white lorry was travelling in the area at the time and may have captured dash cam footage.
“We would also like to trace the boy involved to ascertain what happened and are appealing for his parents/guardians to please get in touch. Thank you.”
She continued: “I’d like to take this opportunity to remind people that it is currently illegal to ride an e-scooter on a public road or space in Hertfordshire. They may only be ridden on private land with the owner’s permission.
“We have worked with local schools and businesses to educate people on the law, installed new signage and have already seized several e-scooters. This work will continue.”
If you have information to assist enquiries, please contact PC Capp by email.
