The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team have hosted crime prevention stalls in John Lewis as part of their efforts to tackle retail crime.
PCSOs Emma Carson and James Pedder took to the Welwyn Garden City store on Friday 8 March to speak to staff about how they can help prevent crimes such as shoplifting, burglary and assault. They returned on Saturday (23 March), with PC Wilson Yeung, to give the public another chance to come along and meet with their local police.
The stalls were organised as part of the national month of action to tackle retail crime, an initiative introduced by the National Business Crime Centre.
All local business owners and shopworkers were invited to attend and the invite was also open to the wider public looking for general crime prevention advice.
PCSO Carson said: “We work hard all year round to ensure that businesses are safe from crime. We have officers dedicated to Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City town centres and they regularly visit the local shops and businesses, offering advice and making sure everything is in order. The month of action is an opportunity to remind local businesses and shopworkers that we are here to support you from retail crime.
“I would like to thank everybody who came along to our stalls. We hope you found it useful.”
