Officers from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team recovered a stolen moped in Hatfield on Saturday (16 March).
The vehicle had been stolen from Honeysuckle Gardens overnight on Friday (15 March) into Saturday.
A member of the public spotted the vehicle abandoned in Howe Dell Woods and called police who attended the scene along with the victim who was delighted to have his vehicle back.
PC Joanna Witkiewicz, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are pleased that the victim has his moped back. This sort of crime has a devastating impact on people’s lives – in this case, the victim’s vehicle was part of his livelihood.
“An investigation is underway, including forensic work to find the person(s) responsible for the theft.
“If you have any information that might help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
If you have information about the theft, you can report it online, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/21767/24.
Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form (opens in a new window).
