Three people were arrested in Bishop’s Stortford yesterday (Wednesday 6 March) after police responded to concerns about alleged cuckooing at an address in the town.
Cuckooing is where criminals groom a vulnerable person in order to take over their home and use it as a base for their activities.
Officers from the East Herts Operation Scorpion team attended a property in the town centre area, alongside colleagues from the Neighbourhood Policing Team. A quantity of cannabis and suspected Class A drugs were discovered.
Three people were subsequently arrested:
All three have been released on conditional bail while further enquiries are carried out.
Sergeant Luke Collyer, from the East Herts Operation Scorpion team, said: “Cuckooing has serious consequences for victims and the local area surrounding a cuckooed address. If you have any concerns about criminality in your local area, please report it to police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can report information via the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
You can report information online, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form.
