A 60 year old man from Watford has been jailed after being found guilty of committing sexual offences against a child.
Following a trial at St Albans Crown Court, Sabaratnam Arulsikamani of Water Lane, was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child, which related to a young teenage girl and dated back to 2011.
On Friday 8 March, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. He will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Commenting on the case Detective Sergeant Marc Willmore from the Constabulary’s Non Recent Child Abuse Investigation Team said: “My team investigates historic cases of child abuse, which for many different reasons are not reported at the time.
“This investigation and the result achieved from court shows that no matter how long ago the offence took place, or what your circumstances are, these types of allegations will be investigated thoroughly and diligently.
“Becoming a victim of sexual assault is never your fault and if you’ve been a victim please report it. We have specialist officers on hand to provide advice and support throughout an investigation.
“Anyone who has been a victim of child abuse, or thinks a child is being abused, should contact police immediately and a report can be made in confidence.”
