A man has been sentenced to over four years behind bars for multiple offences linked to drug dealing between October 2020 and November 2023.
Louis Bricknell, aged 22, of Trinity Street, Bishop’s Stortford appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Monday 13 May and was sentenced to 52 months imprisonment and was handed a five-year driving ban.
Bricknell conducted the majority of his activities in the vicinity of Bishop’s Stortford where he was arrested for drug and driving related offences. During the course of their investigations police seized drugs with a street value of more than £48,000 along with a significant amount of cash.
In October 2020, Bricknell was involved in a road traffic collision in Southmill Road, Bishop’s Stortford. He was found in possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (cocaine) as well as around £1,000 of cash. He was also arrested for dangerous driving without insurance.
Then in March 2023, he was stopped in South Street, Bishop’s Stortford for driving in a cloned black Jaguar XF. After being sighted by officers for driving erratically, he was arrested for being in possession with intent to supply Class A drugs to the street value of £4,000 (cocaine and MDMA). A quantity of cash and a quantity of cannabis was also seized from his vehicle. He was also arrested for driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.
In November 2023, an arrest enquiry was made at Bricknell’s address where he was found in possession of Class A drugs with an approximate street value of £44,000 (2CB), (Ketamine) and found in possession of cannabis and MDMA, all of which was seized. An offensive weapon (extendable baton) was also seized from the address.
Detective Sergeant Adam Haines of East Herts Local Crime Unit said: “This is a very good result for local policing in East Herts.
“Bricknell has had a huge impact on individuals in Bishop’s Stortford and has taken advantage of vulnerable people when selling Class A drugs in the local area.
“I would like to hope that this result reassures the community within Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding areas, that we will not tolerate this level of criminality and we will always look to bring offenders to justice.
“Our proactive teams and investigators are always targeting those offenders who cause the most harm.
“I would encourage anyone with information about offences to come forward and contact us so that we can continue to keep Hertfordshire safe.”
